First Week of Bible Study

The first bible study was awesome!!! Ben and I decided to start with just a general talk about what apologetics was, discuss biblical calls to defend the faith, and we talked about discipleship. We had 6 show up includng Ben and I. Including the Music Pastor from Victory Temple, a church in Fairborn, he is an awesome guy and added greatly to our talks.

Apologetics is the defense of the faith. Al throughout the New Testament we are called to be able to defend our faith when need be. The verses we talked about were: Jude 1:3, 2 Corinthians 10:1-5, 2 Peter 1:15-16, 1 Peter 3:15-16, and 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. These verses were so great in that each one has a command for us to be able to defend the faith, but includes that we must be meek and gentle.

I find that I get fired up and angry when someone challenges my faith, this is opposite of what the Bible teaches, as mentioned by our pastor friend, we must allow the Holy Spirit to guide our talks with those that challenge our faith. The lastr verses discussed in great detail about how our knowledge is nothing. God is the power behind us and He alone will choose who will recieve His gospel and who will not. On the other hand it is still our calling to know how to defend our faith when need be.

Discipleship was our final talk. We want to establish good discipleship relationships both in our Bible Study and throughout our movement. With the large number of incoming freshmen there is a ton of potential at Wright State. We just have to go for it. Discipleship is fundamental and so important both to our own walks and to the movement in general.

That was our Bible Study in a quick synopsis. I will post more as the weeks go on and supplement soem stuff in between studies.

Grace and Peace,
Mike
